Soho Penthouse
PRIVATE home
Planning for a future as empty-nesters, the clients relocated from a prewar townhouse to a 7,200-square-foot Soho duplex.
Dumais spent six months bringing warmth and personality to the penthouse apartment—especially the more privacy-oriented lower level—and collaborated with landscape designer Harrison Green on the full-length private terrace.

Living ROOM
Dumais replaced the original fireplace with a longer, lower-profile alternative that was better suited to the proportions of the room. The 12-foot fireplace is clad in Heath Ceramics and framed by an Eramosa marble mantelpiece.
Breakfast Room
A kitchen niche became a combination pantry and breakfast room. Custom bleached-maple millwork provides ample storage, while marble cutouts break up the monolithic backdrop and create additional serving and display surfaces.
Family Room
Dumais replaced the existing millwork in the family room, a revamp that included the addition of a handsome wet bar. The oak cabinetry’s aubergine lacquer balanced out a palette of warm whites and taupe mixed with rusty, golden tones.
Master Bedroom
Oak and linen paneling served to frame the existing bed niche in cozy contrast to the large views opposite. Over-scaled blown-glass table lamps and an ethereal pendant lamp add to the nuanced rhythm of the master bedroom.
